Destroyed by the Spanish in 1521
Rebuilt by the Spanish in 1524
Renamed 'Mexico City' in 1585

The Guinness world record for 'Most People Kissing Simultaneously' was set in Mexico City, with 39,879 people participating (the odd number surprised me) **<note from grizzlyadam - that's because they allowed kisses between more than 2 people....like families>**

It was eventually built on an island in a lake but the lake was gradually filled in over the centuries and doesn't exist anymore

There is a Six Flags amusement park there!

June-October is the rainy season there
